Defensin 1; Neutrophil; Human Defensin 1; Neutrophil ELISA Kit; DEFA1 elisa kit
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Reactivity
Human
Specificity
No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Human DEFA1 and analogues was observed.
Sequence Length
94
Samples
Serum, Plasma, Tissue Homogenate, Feces, Urine and Body Fluids
Assay Type
Sandwich
Detection Range
31.2 pg/ml - 1000 pg/ml.
Sensitivity
5.0 pg/ml.
Intended Uses
This Quantitative Sandwich ELISA kit is only for in vitro research use only, not for drug, household, therapeutic applications! It is intended to be determinated DEFA1 concentrations in Human serum, plasma and other body fluids. Using Purified Human DEFA1 antibody to coat Microelisa Stripplate wells to make solid-phase antibody, then add DEFA1 and DEFA1 antibody which has been labeled with HRP to wells, then the reactants become antibody-antigen-antibody-enzyme complex, after washing completely, add TMB substrate solution, TMB substrate becomes blue color under HRP enzyme-catalyzed, reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. The concentration of DEFA1 in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.
Intra-assay Precision
Intra-assay CV (%) is less than 15%.
Inter-assay Precision
Inter-assay CV (%) is less than 15%. [CV(%) = SD/mean ×100]
Preparation and Storage
Store all reagents at 2-8 degree C

NCBI Description

Defensins are a family of microbicidal and cytotoxic peptides thought to be involved in host defense. They are abundant in the granules of neutrophils and also found in the epithelia of mucosal surfaces such as those of the intestine, respiratory tract, urinary tract, and vagina. Members of the defensin family are highly similar in protein sequence and distinguished by a conserved cysteine motif. The protein encoded by this gene, defensin, alpha 1, is found in the microbicidal granules of neutrophils and likely plays a role in phagocyte-mediated host defense. Several alpha defensin genes are clustered on chromosome 8. This gene differs from defensin, alpha 3 by only one amino acid. This gene and the gene encoding defensin, alpha 3 are both subject to copy number variation. [provided by RefSeq, May 2010]

Uniprot Description

defensin, alpha 1: Defensin 1 and defensin 2 have antibacterial, fungicide and antiviral activities. Has antimicrobial activity against Gram- negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Defensins are thought to kill microbes by permeabilizing their plasma membrane. Belongs to the alpha-defensin family.

Product Notes

The Human DEFA1 defa1 (Catalog #AAA016501) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA016501 ELISA Kit recognizes Human DEFA1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Defensin 1, Neutrophil, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
