NCBI Description

This gene encodes carboxypeptidase A, a zinc-dependent metalloprotease that cleaves peptide bonds at the C-terminus of protein substrates. The encoded preproprotein undergoes proteolytic activation to generate a mature, functional enzyme. This gene is expressed in pancreas, the encoded protein is a major component of digestive enzymes secreted by pancreas and plays an important role in the process of digestion. This gene is located in a cluster of related carboxypeptidase genes on chromosome 6. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]

Uniprot Description

Carboxypeptidase that catalyzes the release of a C-terminal amino acid, but has little or no action with -Asp, -Glu, -Arg, -Lys or -Pro.

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Carboxypeptidase A1 (Cpa1), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
