Contactin 5 / CNTN5 Recombinant Protein | CNTN5 recombinant protein
Recombinant Human Contactin 5 / CNTN5 Protein (His tag)
Description: A DNA sequence encoding the mature form of human CNTN5 (NP_055176.1) (Met 1-Gln 1059) with a C-terminal polyhistidine tag was expressed.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, and contactin family, which mediate cell surface interactions during nervous system development. This protein is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored neuronal membrane protein that functions as a cell adhesion molecule. It may play a role in the formation of axon connections in the developing nervous system. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
Uniprot Description
CNTN5: Contactins mediate cell surface interactions during nervous system development. Has some neurite outgrowth-promoting activity in the cerebral cortical neurons but not in hippocampal neurons. Probably involved in neuronal activity in the auditory system. Belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. Contactin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Cell adhesion; Membrane protein, GPI anchor
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q22.1
Cellular Component: cytoplasm

Product Notes
The CNTN5 cntn5 (Catalog #AAA2546212) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The secreted recombinant human CNTN5 comprises 1052 amino acids with a predicted molecular mass of 116 kDa. As a result of glycosylation, rhCNTN5 migrates as an approximately 130-140 kDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CNTN5 cntn5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Contactin 5 / CNTN5, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
