Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antigen. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with rabbit anti-OT antibody. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between pre-coated OT and OT in samples with rabbit anti-OT antibody. Then add Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated anti-rabbit IgG. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of OT in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Function: Transferrins are iron binding transport proteins which can bind two Fe3+ ions in association with the binding of an anion, usually bicarbonate. Responsible for the transport of iron from sites of absorption and heme degradation to those of storage and utilization. There are two forms of hen transferrin, ovotransferrin, found in the ovoducts and, serum transferrin, secreted by the liver. Serum transferrin may also have a role in stimulating cell proliferation and is regulated by iron levels. Ovotransferrin has a bacteriostatic function and, is not controlled by iron levels.
