Intended Uses||This immunoassay kit allows for the in vitro quantitative determination of mouseCgAconcentrations in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: The ELISA is based on the competitive binding enzyme immunoassaytechnique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific toCgA, During the reaction,CgAin the sample or standard competes with a fixed amount of biotin-labeledCgA for sites on a pre-coated Monoclonal antibody specific to CgA. Excess conjugate and unbound sample or standard are washed from the plate. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Thena TMB substrate solution is added to each well. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The concentration of CgA in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the granin family of acidic secretory glycoproteins that are expressed in endocrine cells and neurons. The encoded preproprotein undergoes proteolytic processing to generate multiple functions peptides including pancreastatin, catestatin and serpinin. The encoded protein plays important roles in the neuroendocrine system including regulated secretion of peptide hormones and neurotransmitters. Mice lacking the encoded protein exhibit elevated blood pressure which can be rescued by transgenic expression of the human ortholog. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2015]

Uniprot Description

CHGA: a member of the chromogranin/secretogranin family of neuroendocrine secretory proteins. It is found in secretory vesicles of neurons and endocrine cells and is a precursor to multiple biologically active peptides including vasostatin, pancreastatin, and chromostatin. Binds calcium with a low-affinity. Vasostatin negatively regulates angiogenesis and has antibacterial activity against some Gram-positive bacteria. Pancreastatin inhibits glucose induced insulin release from the pancreas. Chromostatin inhibits catecholamine release from chromaffin cells.

Product Notes

The Mouse Chga chga (Catalog #AAA2886976) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2886976 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse Chga. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Chromogranin-A, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
