Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for CDH5 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any CDH5 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CDH5 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CDH5 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Uniprot Description

CDH5: Cadherins are calcium dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. This cadherin may play a important role in endothelial cell biology through control of the cohesion and organization of the intercellular junctions. It associates with alpha-catenin forming a link to the cytoskeleton. Acts in concert with KRIT1 to establish and maintain correct endothelial cell polarity and vascular lumen. These effects are mediated by recruitment and activation of the Par polarity complex and RAP1B. Required for activation of PRKCZ and for the localization of phosphorylated PRKCZ, PARD3, TIAM1 and RAP1B to the cell junction. Interacts via cadherin 5 domain with PTPRB. Interacts with TRPC4. Interacts with KRIT1. Endothelial tissues and brain.

Product Notes

The Mouse CDH5 cdh5 (Catalog #AAA921276) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA921276 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse CDH5. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "cadherin 5, type 2 (vascular endothelium), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
