Description: A DNA sequence encoding the human CD58 (AAH05930.1) (Met1-Arg215) was expressed with a polyhistidine tag at the C-terminus.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. The encoded protein is a ligand of the T lymphocyte CD2 protein, and functions in adhesion and activation of T lymphocytes. The protein is localized to the plasma membrane. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2009]
Uniprot Description
CD58: Ligand of the T-lymphocyte CD2 glycoprotein. This interaction is important in mediating thymocyte interactions with thymic epithelial cells, antigen-independent and -dependent interactions of T-lymphocytes with target cells and antigen- presenting cells and the T-lymphocyte rosetting with erythrocytes. In addition, the LFA-3/CD2 interaction may prime response by both the CD2+ and LFA-3+ cells. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Cell adhesion; Membrane protein, GPI anchor; Membrane protein, integral
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p13.1
Cellular Component: cell surface; membrane; plasma membrane
Molecular Function: protein binding; receptor binding
Biological Process: heterotypic cell-cell adhesion; leukocyte migration

Product Notes
The LFA-3 / CD58 cd58 (Catalog #AAA2545516) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant human CD58 consists of 198 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 22.9 KDa. It migrates as an approximately 38-43 KDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the LFA-3 / CD58 cd58 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "LFA-3 / CD58, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
