Related Product Information for CDK9 recombinant protein
Recombinant full-length human CDK9 and CyclinK proteins were co-expressed by baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells using an N-terminal GST tag. The gene accession numbers for CDK9 and CyclinK are NM_001261 and, NM_003858, respectively.
CDK9/CyclinK is a member of the cyclin-dependent protein kinase (CDK) family. CDK9 is closely related to cdc28 and cdc2 and is an important regulator of the cell cycle (1). CDK9 is a component of the multiprotein complex TAK/P-TEFbeta. CDK9 can modulate RNA polymerase II-directed transcription by phosphorylating the C-terminal domain of the largest subunit of RNA polymerase II. CDK9 forms a complex with and is regulated by its regulatory subunit cyclin T or cyclin K. CDK9 also interacts with the HIV-1 Tat protein which suggested a possible involvement of this protein in AIDS (2).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the transcription cyclin family. These cyclins may regulate transcription through their association with and activation of cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK) that phosphorylate the C-terminal domain (CTD) of the large subunit of RNA polymerase II. This gene product may play a dual role in regulating CDK and RNA polymerase II activities. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: May play a role in transcriptional regulation. In vitro, is associated with a kinase activity toward both RNA polymerase II C-terminal domain and CDK2 (CAK). Ref.9

Subunit structure: Part of a cyclin-kinase pair in the RNA polymerase II holoenzyme. Binds to CDK9.

Tissue specificity: Ubiquitously expressed. Highest levels in testis.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the cyclin family. Cyclin C subfamily.

Product Notes

The CDK9 ccnk (Catalog #AAA516727) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Sf9 insect cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's CDK9/CyclinK can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Kinase Assay, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CDK9 ccnk for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CDK9/CyclinK, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
