Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for catestatin has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any catestatin present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for catestatin is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of catestatin bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) family, which function as NADPH-dependent oxidoreductases having wide specificity for carbonyl compounds, such as quinones, prostaglandins, and various xenobiotics. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2013]

Uniprot Description

Function: NADPH-dependent reductase with broad substrate specificity. Catalyzes the reduction of a wide variety of carbonyl compounds including quinones, prostaglandins, menadione, plus various xenobiotics. Catalyzes the reduction of the antitumor anthracyclines doxorubicin and daunorubicin to the cardiotoxic compounds doxorubicinol and daunorubicinol. Can convert prostaglandin E2 to prostaglandin F2-alpha. Can bind glutathione, which explains its higher affinity for glutathione-conjugated substrates. Catalyzes the reduction of S-nitrosoglutathione.4 PublicationsManual assertion based on experiment in:Ref.14

Catalytic activity: R-CHOH-R' + NADP+ = R-CO-R' + NADPH.

Enzyme regulation: Inhibited by quercetin, rutenin and its derivatives.2 PublicationsManual assertion based on experiment in:Ref.14

Product Notes

The Human CBR1 cbr1 (Catalog #AAA705832) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA705832 ELISA Kit recognizes Human CBR1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "carbonyl reductase 1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
