Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate C7orf20 in samples. An antibody specific for C7orf20 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyC7orf20 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for C7orf20 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of C7orf20 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

GET4: Component of the BAT3 complex, a multiprotein complex involved in the post-translational delivery of tail-anchored (TA) membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. TA membrane proteins, also named type II transmembrane proteins, contain a single C-terminal transmembrane region. The complex acts by facilitating TA proteins capture by ASNA1/TRC40: it is recruited to ribosomes synthesizing membrane proteins, interacts with the transmembrane region of newly released TA proteins, and transfers them to ASNA1/TRC40 for targeting. Belongs to the GET4 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
