Related Product Information for SLC6A14 blocking peptide
Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (immunoblot) and immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or immunostaining performed with the neutralized antibody.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the solute carrier family 6. Members of this family are sodium and chloride dependent neurotransmitter transporters. The encoded protein transports both neutral and cationic amino acids. This protein may also function as a beta-alanine carrier. Mutations in this gene may be associated with X-linked obesity. A pseudogene of this gene is found on chromosome X.[provided by RefSeq, May 2010]

Uniprot Description

SLC6A14: Mediates the uptake of a broad range of neutral and cationic amino acids (with the exception of proline) in a Na(+)/Cl(-)-dependent manner. Genetic variations in SLC6A14 may be associated with obesity in some populations, as shown by significant differences in allele frequencies between obese and non-obese individuals. Belongs to the sodium:neurotransmitter symporter (SNF) (TC 2.A.22) family. SLC6A14 subfamily.

Protein type: Transporter; Transporter, SLC family; Membrane protein, multi-pass; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: Xq23

Cellular Component: brush border membrane; integral to membrane; plasma membrane; vesicle

Molecular Function: neurotransmitter:sodium symporter activity; amino acid transmembrane transporter activity

Biological Process: amino acid metabolic process; amino acid transport; neurotransmitter transport; transport; response to toxin; ion transport; transmembrane transport

Disease: Body Mass Index Quantitative Trait Locus 11

Product Notes

The SLC6A14 slc6a14 (Catalog #AAA9628944) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's SLC6A14 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking/Control. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SLC6A14 slc6a14 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SLC6A14, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
