NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the arm-repeat (armadillo) and plakophilin gene families. Plakophilin proteins contain numerous armadillo repeats, localize to cell desmosomes and nuclei, and participate in linking cadherins to intermediate filaments in the cytoskeleton. This protein may act in cellular desmosome-dependent adhesion and signaling pathways. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2014]

Uniprot Description

plakophilin 3: a novel armadillo-like protein present in nuclei and desmosomes of epithelial cells and dendritic reticular cells of lymphatic follicles.

Protein type: Cell adhesion

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11p15

Product Notes

The PKP3 pkp3 (Catalog #AAA9221219) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PKP3, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
