Endomembrane system; Peripheral membrane protein. Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton. Note: Colocalizes with F-actin
Tissue Location
Specifically expressed in hematopoietic cells. Highly expressed in peripheral blood leukocytes, and expressed at intermediate level in thymus and spleen. Expressed at very low level in the small intestine and colon
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for DOCK2 blocking peptide
Involved in cytoskeletal rearrangements required for lymphocyte migration in response of chemokines. Activates RAC1 and RAC2, but not CDC42, by functioning as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF), which exchanges bound GDP for free GTP. May also participate in IL2 transcriptional activation via the activation of RAC2.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the CDM protein family. It is specifically expressed in hematopoietic cells, predominantly in the peripheral blood leukocytes, and is involved in remodeling of the actin cytoskeleton required for lymphocyte migration, through the activation of RAC. Mice lacking this gene show a severe impairment in the migration and homing of lymphocytes. These mutant mice also exhibited long-term survival of allografts, suggesting that this gene may be a target for controlling transplant rejection. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]

Uniprot Description

DOCK2: a hematopoietic cell-specific CDM family protein that is indispensable for lymphocyte chemotaxis. Plays a role in T cell receptor-induced activation of Rac2 and IL-2 transcription. Interacts with RAC, CRKL, and CD3-zeta. Association with ELMO1 is critical for DOCK2-mediated Rac activation. Two alternatively-spliced isoforms have been described.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Adaptor/scaffold; GAPs, Rac/Rho; GAPs

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q35.1

Cellular Component: cytosol; membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; Rac guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor activity; T cell receptor binding

Biological Process: actin cytoskeleton organization and biogenesis; myeloid dendritic cell activation during immune response; positive regulation of phagocytosis; regulation of defense response to virus by virus

Disease: Immunodeficiency 40

Product Notes

The DOCK2 dock2 (Catalog #AAA9229771) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DOCK2, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
