Related Product Information for Dnmt3l blocking peptide
Catalytically inactive regulatory factor of DNA methyltransferases. It is essential for the function of DNMT3A and DNMT3B. Activates DNMT3A and DNMT3B by binding to their catalytic domain. Accelerates the binding of DNA and AdoMet to the methyltransferases and dissociates from the complex after DNA binding to the methyltransferases.

NCBI Description

CpG methylation is an epigenetic modification that is important for embryonic development, imprinting, and X-chromosome inactivation. Studies in mice have demonstrated that DNA methylation is required for mammalian development. This gene encodes a nuclear protein that is a catalytically inactive regulatory factor of DNA methyltransferases. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]

Uniprot Description

DNMT3L: Catalytically inactive regulatory factor of DNA methyltransferases. Recognizes unmethylated histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4) and induces de novo DNA methylation by recruitment or activation of DNMT3. Belongs to the C5-methyltransferase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Amino Acid Metabolism - cysteine and methionine; Transcription, coactivator/corepressor

Cellular Component: condensed nuclear chromosome; cytoplasm; cytosol; nuclear heterochromatin; nucleus

Molecular Function: enzyme activator activity; enzyme binding; protein binding

Biological Process: in utero embryonic development; methylation; negative regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; placenta development

Product Notes

The Dnmt3l dnmt3l (Catalog #AAA9229753) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Dnmt3l, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
