Related Product Information for Alpl active protein
Alpl, also known as alkaline phosphatase, tissue-nonspecific isozyme, is one of alkaline phosphatases. There are at least four distinct but related alkaline phosphatases: intestinal, placental, placental-like, and liver/bone/kidney (tissue-nonspecific). The product of this gene is a membrane-bound glycosylated enzyme that is not expressed in any particular tissue and is, therefore, referred to as the tissue-nonspecific form of the enzyme. A proposed function of this form of the enzyme is matrix mineralization. Recombinant mouse Alpl, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a preproprotein that is proteolytically cleaved to yield a signal peptide and a proproptein that is subsequently processed to generate the active mature peptide. The encoded protein is a membrane-bound glycosylated enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of phosphate esters at alkaline pH. The mature peptide maintains the ratio of inorganic phosphate to inorganic pyrophosphate required for bone mineralization. Mice that lack this enzyme show symptoms of osteomalacia, softening of the bones. In humans, mutations in this gene are associated with hypophosphatasia, an inherited metabolic bone disease in which deficiency of this enzyme inhibits bone mineralization leading to skeletal defects. Mutations in the mouse gene mirror the symptoms of human hypophosphatasia. A pseudogene of this gene is present on chromosome X. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Uniprot Description

This isozyme may play a role in skeletal mineralization.

Product Notes

The Alpl alpl (Catalog #AAA206476) is an Active Protein produced from Baculovirus and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The tag for this protein is His-tag. AAA Biotech's Alpl can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Alpl alpl for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: VPEKERDPSY WRQQAQETLK NALKLQKLNT NVAKNVIMFL GDGMGVSTVT AARILKGQLH HNTGEETRLE MDKFPFVALS KTYNTNAQVP DSAGTATAYL CGVKANEGTV GVSAATERTR CNTTQGNEVT SILRWAKDAG KSVGIVTTTR VNHATPSAAY AHSADRDWYS DNEMPPEALS QGCKDIAYQL MHNIKDIDVI MGGGRKYMYP KNRTDVEYEL DEKARGTRLD GLDLISIWKS FKPRHKHSHY VWNRTELLAL DPSRVDYLLG LFEPGDMQYE LNRNNLTDPS LSEMVEVALR ILTKNLKGFF LLVEGGRIDH GHHEGKAKQA LHEAVEMDQA IGKAGAMTSQ KDTLTVVTAD HSHVFTFGGY TPRGNSIFGL APMVSDTDKK PFTAILYGNG PGYKVVDGER ENVSMVDYAH NNYQAQSAVP LRHETHGGED VAVFAKGPMA HLLHGVHEQN YIPHVMAYAS CIGANLDHCA WAGSGLEHHH HHH. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Alpl, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
