Ordering
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the C-term region of human BACE2C. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Form/Format
The synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Sequence Length
518
Cellular Location
Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein. Golgi apparatus. Endoplasmic reticulum. Endosome. Cell surface
Tissue Location
Brain. Present in neurons within the hippocampus, frontal cortex and temporal cortex (at protein level). Expressed at low levels in most peripheral tissues and at higher levels in colon, kidney, pancreas, placenta, prostate, stomach and trachea. Expressed at low levels in the brain. Found in spinal cord, medulla oblongata, substantia nigra and locus coruleus. Expressed in the ductal epithelium of both normal and malignant prostate.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for BACE2 blocking peptide
Responsible for the proteolytic processing of the amyloid precursor protein (APP). Cleaves APP, between residues 690 and 691, leading to the generation and extracellular release of beta-cleaved soluble APP, and a corresponding cell-associated C- terminal fragment which is later released by gamma-secretase. It has also been shown that it can cleave APP between residues 671 and 672.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes an integral membrane glycoprotein that functions as an aspartic protease. The encoded protein cleaves amyloid precursor protein into amyloid beta peptide, which is a critical step in the etiology of Alzheimer's disease and Down syndrome. The protein precursor is further processed into an active mature peptide. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]

Uniprot Description

BACE2: Responsible for the proteolytic processing of the amyloid precursor protein (APP). Belongs to the peptidase A1 family. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The BACE2 bace2 (Catalog #AAA9225890) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BACE2C, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
