Recombinant Human ATF2 Protein (His & GST tag)
Description: A DNA sequence encoding full length of human ATF2 (P15336-1) (Met 1-Ser 505) was fused with the N-terminal polyhistidine-tagged GST tag at the N-terminus.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a transcription factor that is a member of the leucine zipper family of DNA binding proteins. The encoded protein has been identified as a moonlighting protein based on its ability to perform mechanistically distinct functions This protein binds to the cAMP-responsive element (CRE), an octameric palindrome. It forms a homodimer or a heterodimer with c-Jun and stimulates CRE-dependent transcription. This protein is also a histone acetyltransferase (HAT) that specifically acetylates histones H2B and H4 in vitro; thus it may represent a class of sequence-specific factors that activate transcription by direct effects on chromatin components. The encoded protein may also be involved in cell's DNA damage response independent of its role in transcriptional regulation. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2014]

Forms a homodimer or heterodimer with c-Jun and stimulates CRE-dependent transcription. Also possesses histone acetyltransferase (HAT) activity that specifically acetylates histones H2B and H4 in vitro.

Product Notes
The ATF2 atf2 (Catalog #AAA2545731) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Baculovirus-Insect Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant human ATF2/GST chimera consists of 742 amino acids and has a calculated molecular mass of 82.4 kDa. It migrates as an approximately 85 kDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ATF2 atf2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ATF2, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
