Phenylalanine Ammonia Lyase (PAL) Assay Kit | PAL assay kit

Phenylalanine Ammonia Lyase (PAL) Activity Colorimetric Assay Kit

Synonyms
Phenylalanine Ammonia Lyase (PAL); Phenylalanine Ammonia Lyase (PAL) Activity Colorimetric Assay Kit; PAL assay kit
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Application Notes
The kit provides a simple method for detecting PAL activity in biological samples. In the assay, PAL catalyzes the cleavage of L-phenylalanine into trans-cinnamic acid and ammonia. Trans-cinnamic acid has a maximum absorption value at 290nm. PAL activity is calculated by measuring the rate of increase in absorbance.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C and protected from light upon receipt. Kit has a storage time of est. 12 months from receipt.
Shipping: Gel pack with blue ice.
Related Product Information for PAL assay kit
Principle of the Assay: Phenylalanine Ammonia Lyase (PAL) catalyzes the cleavage of L-phenylalanine into trans-cinnamic acid and ammonia. Trans-cinnamic acid has a maximum absorption value at 290 nm. PAL activity is calculated by measuring the rate of increase in absorbance.

Background/Introduction: Phenylalanine Ammonia Lyase (PAL) (EC4. 3 15) is widely present in various plants and a few microorganisms. It is a key enzyme and rate-limiting enzyme of phenylpropane metabolism in plants, and has not been found in animals. PAL is closely related to the synthesis of some important secondary substances such as lignin, isoflavone phytoales, and flavonoid pigments, and plays an important role in the normal growth and development of plants, disease resistance, and stress resistance.

Product Notes

The PAL (Catalog #AAA9719029) is an Assay Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PAL for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Phenylalanine Ammonia Lyase (PAL), Assay Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
