In the ulcerated skin, ASPRV1 is expressed in the stratum granulosum of intact epidermis; however it is virtually nonexistent from ulcerated regions. In addition, ASPRV1 is expressed in differentiated areas of squamous cell carcinomas but not in the undifferentiated tumors.
