For Research Use Only!
Reactivity
Guinea Pig
Specificity
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of guinea pig albumin. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between guinea pig albumin and analogues was observed.
Sequence Length
609
Samples
Serum, plasma, tissue homogenates
Assay Type
Competitive
Detection Range
0.156 mug/ml -10 mug/ml.
Sensitivity
The minimum detectable dose of guinea pig albumin is typically less than 0.090 mug/ml. The sensitivity of this assay, or Lower Limit of Detection (LLD) was defined as the lowest guinea pig albumin concentration that could be differentiated from zero. It was determined the mean O.D value of 20 replicates of the zero standard added by their three standard deviations.
Intra-assay Precision
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%. Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.
Inter-assay Precision
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%. Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
Preparation and Storage
Unopened test kits should be stored at 2 to 8 degree C upon receipt. Please refer to pdf manual for further storage instructions.

Principle of the assay: This assay employs the direct competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for albumin has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells with biotin-conjugated albumin. A competitive inhibition reaction is launched between albumin (Standards or samples) and biotin-conjugated albumin with the pre-coated albumin antibody. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in opposite to the amount of albumin bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein which comprises about one-half of the blood serum protein. Albumin functions primarily as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones and plays a role in stabilizing extracellular fluid volume. Albumin is a globular unglycosylated serum protein of molecular weight 65,000. Albumin is synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin which has an N-terminal peptide that is removed before the nascent protein is released from the rough endoplasmic reticulum. The product, proalbumin, is in turn cleaved in the Golgi vesicles to produce the secreted albumin. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: Serum albumin, the main protein of plasma, has a good binding capacity for water, Ca2+, Na+, K+, fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin and drugs. Its main function is the regulation of the colloidal osmotic pressure of blood. Major zinc transporter in plasma, typically binds about 80% of all plasma zinc.1 PublicationManual assertion based on experiment in:Ref.32

Product Notes

The Guinea Pig ALB alb (Catalog #AAA705590) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA705590 ELISA Kit recognizes Guinea Pig ALB. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "albumin, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
