Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with BSA. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific for BSA and incubated. A competitive inhibition reaction is launched between BSA (Standards or samples) and pre-coated with BSA with the biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific for BSA. The more amount of BSA in samples, the less pre-coated with BSA bound by biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific for BSA. Then add the HRP-avidin to each well.The substrate solutions are added to the wells, respectively. And the color develops in opposite to the amount of BSA in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein which comprises about one-half of the blood serum protein. Albumin functions primarily as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones and plays a role in stabilizing extracellular fluid volume. Albumin is a globular unglycosylated serum protein of molecular weight 65,000. Albumin is synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin which has an N-terminal peptide that is removed before the nascent protein is released from the rough endoplasmic reticulum.
