Intended Uses: This immunoassay kit allows for the in vitro quantitative determination of mouse AIF-1 concentrations in serum, Plasma, tissue homogenates and Cell culture supernates and Other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to AIF-1. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated polyclonal antibody preparation specific for AIF-1 and Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then a TMB substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain AIF-1, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm ± 2 nm. The concentration of AIF-1 in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

Uniprot Description

AIF1: Actin-binding protein that enhances membrane ruffling and RAC activation. Enhances the actin-bundling activity of LCP1. Binds calcium. Plays a role in RAC signaling and in phagocytosis. May play a role in macrophage activation and function. Promotes the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells and of T- lymphocytes. Enhances lymphocyte migration. Plays a role in vascular inflammation. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal

Cellular Component: actin filament; cell projection; cytoplasm; cytoskeleton; cytosol; lamellipodium; membrane; nucleus; perikaryon; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; phagocytic cup; plasma membrane; ruffle

Molecular Function: actin binding; actin filament binding; calcium ion binding; metal ion binding; protein binding

Biological Process: actin filament bundle formation; actin filament polymerization; microglial cell activation; negative regulation of apoptosis; negative regulation of smooth muscle cell proliferation; phagocytosis, engulfment; positive regulation of cell migration; positive regulation of muscle hyperplasia; positive regulation of nitric oxide biosynthetic process; positive regulation of protein amino acid phosphorylation; positive regulation of smooth muscle cell proliferation; positive regulation of T cell proliferation; Rac protein signal transduction

Product Notes

The Mouse Aif1 aif1 (Catalog #AAA2882478) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2882478 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse Aif1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Allograft inflammatory factor 1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
