AGO3 recombinant protein
Recombinant AGO3 protein
Shipping Temp: Dry Ice
Background: AGO3 (argonaute RISC catalytic component 3, also known as EIF2C3) is a member of the Argonaute family of proteins which play a role in RNA interference. The Argonaute family proteins (AGO1, AGO2, AGO3 and AGO4) are involved in RNAi mediated gene silencing through siRNA and miRNA effectors. The Argonaute proteins are part of RISC, the RNAi Induced Silencing Complex. RISC uses the siRNA or miRNA as a template for recognizing complementary mRNA. When it recognizes a complementary strand, it activates AGO2 to cleaves the mRNA. The precise mechanism of gene silencing depends on the degree of complementarity between the miRNA or siRNA and its target. Binding of RISC to a perfectly complementary mRNA generally results in silencing due to endonucleolytic cleavage of the mRNA specifically by AGO2. Binding of RISC to a partially complementary mRNA results in silencing through inhibition of translation, and this is independent of endonuclease activity. In some cases, RISC-mediated translational repression is also observed for miRNAs that perfectly match the 3' untranslated region (3'-UTR). AGO3 lacks endonuclease activity and does not appear to cleave target mRNAs. AGO3 contain a PAZ and a PIWI domain.

Product Notes
The AGO3 ago3 (Catalog #AAA388227) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Baculovirus and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "AGO3, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
