Principle of the Assay: ADCY1 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-ADCY1 antibody and an ADCY1-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with ADCY1-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the ADCY1 concentration since ADCY1 from samples and ADCY1-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-ADCY1 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by ADCY1 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind ADCY1-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The ADCY1 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the of adenylate cyclase gene family that is primarily expressed in the brain. This protein is regulated by calcium/calmodulin concentration and may be involved in brain development. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2013]

Uniprot Description

ADCY1: a calmodulin-sensitive adenylyl cyclase expressed in brain. The mouse protein is involved in pattern formation of the brain. May be involved in regulatory processes in the central nervous system. It may play a role in memory acquisition and learning.

Product Notes

The Human ADCY1 adcy1 (Catalog #AAA730718) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA730718 ELISA Kit recognizes Human ADCY1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Adenylate Cyclase 1, Brain, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
