Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for ACV-B has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any ACV-B present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for ACV-B is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of ACV-B bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of a family of proteins that are structurally related to snake venom disintegrins and have been implicated in a variety of biological processes involving cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, including fertilization, muscle development, and neurogenesis. Expression of this gene has been used as a maternal serum marker for pre-natal development. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Shorter isoforms are secreted, while longer isoforms are membrane-bound form. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2014]

Uniprot Description

Function: Involved in skeletal muscle regeneration, specifically at the onset of cell fusion. Also involved in macrophage-derived giant cells (MGC) and osteoclast formation from mononuclear precursors

Cofactor: Binds 1 zinc ion per subunit.

Product Notes

The Human ADAM12 adam12 (Catalog #AAA704578) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA704578 ELISA Kit recognizes Human ADAM12. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ADAM metallopeptidase domain 12, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
