Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 1.5; Maximum Dilution: 3.0ng/lane
Reconstitution
Reconstitute with 250ul distilled water. Care should be taken during reconstitution as the protein may appear as a film at the bottom of the vial. MyBioSource recommends that the vial is gently mixed after reconstitution.
Preparation
Buffer Solution
10mM Sodium Citrate
Activity
Determined by its ability to stimulate lipolysis in cultured human adipocytes.
Target Species
Human
Preparation and Storage
Prior to reconstitution store at 4 degree C. After reconstitution store at -20 degree C. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 3 months from date of reconstitution.
Related Product Information for RETN active protein
Human resistin, a disulfide-linked homodimeric protein otherwise known as adipose tissue-specific secretory factor, is an adipose-derived hormone and member of the resistin/FIZZ family, implicated as a suppressor of the ability of insulin to reduce blood sugar, and to play a role in type 2 diabetes and obesity. Studies have shown that resistin is involved in an increase in the transcription/expression of many pro-inflammatory cytokines, including interleukin-1,-6 and -12, and also upregulates vascular cell-adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), and monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1/CCL2).

NCBI Description

This gene belongs to the family defined by the mouse resistin-like genes. The characteristic feature of this family is the C-terminal stretch of 10 cys residues with identical spacing. The mouse homolog of this protein is secreted by adipocytes, and may be the hormone potentially linking obesity to type II diabetes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]

Uniprot Description

resistin: Hormone that seems to suppress insulin ability to stimulate glucose uptake into adipose cells. Potentially links obesity to diabetes. Belongs to the resistin/FIZZ family.

Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19p13.2

Cellular Component: extracellular space; nucleus

Molecular Function: hormone activity

Product Notes

The RETN retn (Catalog #AAA232425) is an Active Protein and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's RESISTIN can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Functional Assays (FN), Western Blot (WB). ELISA: Minimum Dilution: 0.2; Maximum Dilution: 0.4ng/well; Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 1.5; Maximum Dilution: 3.0ng/lane. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RETN retn for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "RESISTIN, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
