Competes with bile acid CoA:amino acid N-acyltransferase (BAAT) for bile acid-CoA (chenodeoxycholoyl-CoA) substrate (). Shows a preference for medium-length fatty acyl-CoAs (PubMed:11785945). May be involved in the metabolic regulation of peroxisome proliferation ().
