NCBI Description

This gene encodes a transcription factor that recognizes the platelet-derived growth factor-responsive element in the matrix metalloproteinase 3 promoter. The encoded protein is thought to be a transcriptional coactivator, enhancing the activity of transcription factors such as JUN and SP1. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]

Uniprot Description

TCF20: a transcriptional activator. Binds to the regulatory region of MMP3 and thereby controls stromelysin expression. It stimulates the activity of various transcriptional activators such as JUN, SP1, PAX6 and ETS1, suggesting a function as a coactivator. Two alternatively spliced isoforms have been described. Isoform 1 is exclusively expressed in brain, heart and testis, and predominates in liver and kidney. Isoform 2 predominates in lung.

Protein type: Nuclear receptor co-regulator; DNA-binding; Transcription factor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q13.3|22q13.3

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: DNA binding; zinc ion binding; transcription coactivator activity

Biological Process: regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; transcription, DNA-dependent

Product Notes

The TCF20 tcf20 (Catalog #AAA9629527) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Tcf20 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Tcf20 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA)(peptide). ELISA(peptide): 1:20000-1:40000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TCF20 tcf20 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Tcf20, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
