Related Product Information for anti-GORASP1 antibody
Function: Stacking factor involved in the postmitotic assembly of Golgi stacks from mitotic Golgi fragments. Key structural protein required for the maintenance of the Golgi apparatus integrity: its caspase-mediated cleavage is required for fragmentation of the Golgi during apoptosis (By similarity). Also mediates, via its interaction with GOLGA2/GM130, the docking of transport vesicles with the Golgi membranes (PubMed:16489344).
Subunit Structure: Homodimer. Forms higher-order oligomers under interphase but not mitotic conditions. Dimers of the protein on one membrane might be able to interact with dimers on another and so stack cisternae (By similarity). Interacts with the C-terminus of GOLGA2/GM130 under both mitotic and non-mitotic conditions (PubMed:16489344). The interaction is critical for the correct targeting of both proteins to the cis-Golgi (By similarity). The complex binds to the vesicle docking protein p115/USO1. Interacts with TMED2 and TMED3 (By similarity).
Post-translational Modifications: Phosphorylated by CDC2/B1 and PLK kinases during mitosis. Phosphorylation cycle correlates with the cisternal stacking cycle. Phosphorylation of the homodimer prevents the association of dimers into higher-order oligomers, leading to cisternal unstacking. Target for caspase-3 cleavage during apoptosis. The cleavage contributes to Golgi fragmentation and occurs very early in the execution phase of apoptosis (By similarity).
Similarity: Belongs to the GORASP family.

NCBI Description

The Golgi complex plays a key role in the sorting and modification of proteins exported from the endoplasmic reticulum. The protein encoded by this gene is a membrane protein involved in establishing the stacked structure of the Golgi apparatus. It is a caspase-3 substrate, and cleavage of this encoded protein contributes to Golgi fragmentation in apoptosis. This encoded protein can form a complex with the Golgi matrix protein GOLGA2, and this complex binds to the vesicle docking protein p115. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants of this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]

Uniprot Description

Plays an important role in assembly and membrane stacking of the Golgi cisternae, and in the reassembly of Golgi stacks after breakdown during mitosis (PubMed:26363069). Key structural protein required for the maintenance of the Golgi apparatus integrity: its caspase-mediated cleavage is required for fragmentation of the Golgi during apoptosis (). Also mediates, via its interaction with GOLGA2/GM130, the docking of transport vesicles with the Golgi membranes (PubMed:16489344).

Product Notes

The GORASP1 gorasp1 (Catalog #AAA9609853) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The GORASP1 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GORASP1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:1000-3000 IHC: 1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GORASP1 gorasp1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GORASP1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
