NCBI Description

This gene encodes a type I transmembrane protein in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). The protein is an essential component of glycosylphosphatidylinositol-mannosyltransferase I, which transfers the first of the four mannoses in the GPI-anchor precursors during GPI-anchor biosynthesis. Studies in rat indicate that the protein is translated from a non-AUG translation initiation site. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

PIGX: Essential component of glycosylphosphatidylinositol- mannosyltransferase 1 which transfers the first of the 4 mannoses in the GPI-anchor precursors during GPI-anchor biosynthesis. Probably acts by stabilizing the mannosyltransferase PIGM. Belongs to the PIGX family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum membrane; membrane; endoplasmic reticulum; integral to membrane

Biological Process: GPI anchor biosynthetic process

Product Notes

The Mouse PIGX pigx (Catalog #AAA9337035) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9337035 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse PIGX. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "phosphatidylinositol glycan anchor biosynthesis, class X, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
