Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for SERPINE2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any SERPINE2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for SERPINE2 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SERPINE2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the serpin family of proteins, a group of proteins that inhibit serine proteases. Thrombin, urokinase, plasmin and trypsin are among the proteases that this family member can inhibit. This gene is a susceptibility gene for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and for emphysema. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2012]

Uniprot Description

SERPINE2: Serine protease inhibitor with activity toward thrombin, trypsin, and urokinase. Promotes neurite extension by inhibiting thrombin. Binds heparin. Belongs to the serpin family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Human SERPINE2 serpine2 (Catalog #AAA927777) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA927777 ELISA Kit recognizes Human SERPINE2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "serpin peptidase inhibitor, clade E (nexin, plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1) , member 2, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
