NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the superfamily of potassium channel proteins containing two pore-forming P domains. The product of this gene has not been shown to be a functional channel; however, it may require other non-pore-forming proteins for activity. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

KCNK7: Probable potassium channel subunit. No channel activity observed in vitro as protein remains in the endoplasmic reticulum. May need to associate with an as yet unknown partner in order to reach the plasma membrane. Belongs to the two pore domain potassium channel (TC 1.A.1.8) family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q13

Cellular Component: integral to membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: potassium channel activity; voltage-gated ion channel activity

Biological Process: synaptic transmission; potassium ion transport

Product Notes

The KCNK7 kcnk7 (Catalog #AAA9232380) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The KCNK7 Antibody (C-term) Affinity Purified Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody (Pab) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's KCNK7 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:1000 IHC-P: 1:50-100 FC/FACS: 1:10-50. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KCNK7 kcnk7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KCNK7, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
