Function
Associates with and regulates the activity ofthe sodium/potassium-transporting ATPase(NKA) which transports Na(+) out of the celland K(+) into the cell (PubMed:15563542,PubMed:18065526). InhibitsNKA activity in its unphosphorylated stateand stimulates activity whenphosphorylated (By similarity). Reducesglutathionylation of the NKA beta-1 subunitATP1B1, thus reversing glutathionylation-mediated inhibition of ATP1B1 (PubMed:21454534).Contributes to female sexual developmentby maintaining the excitability of neuronswhich secrete gonadotropin-releasinghormone (PubMed:19187398).

Description: Purified Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody (Pab)

Background: This gene encodes a member of the FXYD family of small membrane proteins that share a 35-amino acid signature sequence domain, beginning with the sequence PFXYD and containing 7 invariant and 6 highly conserved amino acids. The protein encoded by this gene is a plasma membrane substrate for several kinases, including protein kinase A, protein kinase C, NIMA kinase, and myotonic dystrophy kinase. It is thought to form an ion channel or regulate ion channel activity and act as an accessory protein of Na,K-ATPase. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants which encode the same protein.

Uniprot Description

PLM: a protein of the FXYD family of small ion transport regulators or channels. Induces a hyperpolarization-activated chloride current when expressed in Xenopus oocytes. May have a functional role in muscle contraction. Major plasma membrane substrate for PKA and PKC in several different tissues. Phosphorylated in response to insulin and adrenergic stimulation.Highest expression in skeletal muscle and heart. Moderate levels in brain, placenta, lung, liver, pancreas, uterus, bladder, prostate, small intestine and colon with mucosal lining.

Product Notes

The M PLM fxyd1 (Catalog #AAA9231660) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The M PLM Antibody (N-term) reacts with Mouse Predicted: Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's M PLM can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the M PLM fxyd1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "M PLM, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
