ALKBH3 blocking peptide

ALKBH3 Antibody (C-term) Blocking Peptide

Gene Names
ALKBH3; ABH3; PCA1; DEPC1; hABH3; DEPC-1
Synonyms
ALKBH3; ALKBH3 Antibody (C-term) Blocking Peptide; Alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase alkB homolog 3; 11411-; Alkylated DNA repair protein alkB homolog 3; DEPC-1; Prostate cancer antigen 1; ABH3; DEPC1; ALKBH3 blocking peptide
Ordering
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the C-term region of human ALKBH3. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Form/Format
Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Sequence Length
286
Cellular Location
Cytoplasm. Nucleus.
Tissue Location
Ubiquitous. Detected in heart, pancreas, skeletal muscle, thymus, testis, ovary, spleen, prostate, small intestine, peripheral blood leukocytes, urinary bladder and colon
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for ALKBH3 blocking peptide
Dioxygenase that repairs alkylated DNA containing 1- methyladenine (1meA) and 3-methylcytosine (3meC) by oxidative demethylation. Has a strong preference for single-stranded DNA. Able to process alkylated 3mC within double-stranded regions via its interaction with ASCC3, which promotes DNA unwinding to generate single-stranded substrate needed for ALKHB3. May also act on RNA. Requires molecular oxygen, alpha-ketoglutarate and iron.

NCBI Description

The Escherichia coli AlkB protein protects against the cytotoxicity of methylating agents by repair of the specific DNA lesions generated in single-stranded DNA. ALKBH2 (MIM 610602) and ALKBH3 are E. coli AlkB homologs that catalyze the removal of 1-methyladenine and 3-methylcytosine (Duncan et al., 2002 [PubMed 12486230]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]

Uniprot Description

ALKBH3: Dioxygenase that repairs alkylated DNA containing 1- methyladenine (1meA) and 3-methylcytosine (3meC) by oxidative demethylation. Belongs to the alkB family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The ALKBH3 alkbh3 (Catalog #AAA9227786) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ALKBH3, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
