Related Product Information for KHSRP blocking peptide
Binds to the dendritic targeting element and may play a role in mRNA trafficking (By similarity). Part of a ternary complex that binds to the downstream control sequence (DCS) of the pre-mRNA. Mediates exon inclusion in transcripts that are subject to tissue-specific alternative splicing. May interact with single- stranded DNA from the far-upstream element (FUSE). May activate gene expression. Also involved in degradation of inherently unstable mRNAs that contain AU-rich elements (AREs) in their 3'- UTR, possibly by recruiting degradation machinery to ARE- containing mRNAs.

NCBI Description

The KHSRP gene encodes a multifunctional RNA-binding protein implicated in a variety of cellular processes, including transcription, alternative pre-mRNA splicing, and mRNA localization (Min et al., 1997 [PubMed 9136930]; Gherzi et al., 2004 [PubMed 15175153]).[supplied by OMIM, Apr 2010]

Uniprot Description

KHSRP: an RNA binding and processing protein that binds to the dendritic targeting element and may play a role in mRNA trafficking. Part of a ternary complex that binds to the downstream control sequence (DCS) of the pre-mRNA. Mediates exon inclusion in transcripts that are subject to tissue-specific alternative splicing. May interact with single-stranded DNA from the far-upstream element (FUSE). May activate gene expression. Also involved in degradation of inherently unstable mRNAs that contain AU-rich elements (AREs) in their 3' untranslated regions, possibly by recruiting degradation machinery to ARE-containing mRNAs. Interacts with APC which is part of the apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme complex. The interaction is not required for activity of the catalytic component, APOBEC1, but may confer stability on the complex.

Protein type: RNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19p13.3

Cellular Component: cytosol; membrane; nucleoplasm

Biological Process: regulation of mRNA stability; RNA splicing; RNA splicing, via transesterification reactions

Product Notes

The KHSRP khsrp (Catalog #AAA9218579) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KHSRP, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
