Principle of the Assay: The MyBioSource' Mouse NGF beta ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Mouse NGF beta in Cell Culture Supernatants, Serum. This assay employs an antibody specific for Mouse NGF beta coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and NGF beta present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Mouse NGF beta antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of NGF beta bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Background/Introduction: Nerve growth factor (NGF) is a polypeptide involved in the regulation of growth and differentiation of sympathetic and certain sensory neurons. NGF is thought to have a profound effect on the development and maintenance of sympathetic and embryonic sensory neurones. NGF activity isolated from the male mouse submaxillary gland (MSG) consists of three types of subunits, alpha, beta and gamma, which specifically interact to form a 7S, approximately 130,000-molecular weight (Mr) complex. The 7S complex contains two identical 118-amino acid beta-chains, which are solely responsible for the nerve growth-stimulating activity of NGF. NGF, which is expressed by inflammatory cells and effects changes that lead to increased neural responsiveness, could be a pivotal mediator in allergic rhinitis.

Uniprot Description

NGF: Nerve growth factor is important for the development and maintenance of the sympathetic and sensory nervous systems. Extracellular ligand for the NTRK1 and NGFR receptors, activates cellular signaling cascades through those receptor tyrosine kinase to regulate neuronal proliferation, differentiation and survival. Homodimer. Belongs to the NGF-beta family.

Product Notes

The Mouse NGF ngf (Catalog #AAA825100) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA825100 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse NGF. AAA Biotech's NGF beta can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Sandwich ELISA (SE). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NGF ngf for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NGF beta, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
