NCBI Description

This gene encodes one of the smallest subunits of RNA polymerase II, the polymerase responsible for synthesizing messenger RNA in eukaryotes. This subunit is shared by the other two DNA-directed RNA polymerases. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

POLR2K: DNA-dependent RNA polymerase catalyzes the transcription of DNA into RNA using the four ribonucleoside triphosphates as substrates. Common component of RNA polymerases I, II and III which synthesize ribosomal RNA precursors, mRNA precursors and many functional non-coding RNAs, and a small RNAs, such as 5S rRNA and tRNAs, respectively. Belongs to the archaeal RpoP/eukaryotic RPC10 RNA polymerase subunit family.

Protein type: RNA processing; DNA repair, damage

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8q22.2

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; DNA-directed RNA polymerase III complex; DNA-directed RNA polymerase II, core complex; nucleus; cytosol; DNA-directed RNA polymerase I complex

Molecular Function: DNA binding; zinc ion binding

Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; transcription initiation from RNA polymerase II promoter; regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase I promoter; termination of RNA polymerase III transcription; viral reproduction; somatic stem cell maintenance; positive regulation of viral transcription; RNA splicing; transcription from RNA polymerase I promoter; RNA elongation from RNA polymerase I promoter; DNA repair; termination of RNA polymerase I transcription; regulation of gene expression, epigenetic; transcription from RNA polymerase III promoter; nuclear mRNA splicing, via spliceosome; mRNA capping; negative regulation of gene expression, epigenetic; nucleotide-excision repair; transcription-coupled nucleotide-excision repair; RNA elongation from RNA polymerase II promoter; positive regulation of interferon type I production; innate immune response; gene expression; transcription initiation from RNA polymerase I promoter; RNA elongation from RNA polymerase III promoter

Product Notes

The POLR2K polr2k (Catalog #AAA822763) is a Blocking Peptide produced from Synthetic and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The POLR2K Blocking Peptide reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Bovine, Monkey and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's POLR2K can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking (BL). Blocking Peptide to the diluted primary antibody in a molar ratio of 10:1 (peptide to antibody) and incubate the mixture at 4 degree C for overnight or at room temperature for 2 hours. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the POLR2K polr2k for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "POLR2K, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
