NCBI Description

Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is a heme protein synthesized during myeloid differentiation that constitutes the major component of neutrophil azurophilic granules. Produced as a single chain precursor, myeloperoxidase is subsequently cleaved into a light and heavy chain. The mature myeloperoxidase is a tetramer composed of 2 light chains and 2 heavy chains. This enzyme produces hypohalous acids central to the microbicidal activity of neutrophils. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014]

Uniprot Description

MPO: Part of the host defense system of polymorphonuclear leukocytes. It is responsible for microbicidal activity against a wide range of organisms. In the stimulated PMN, MPO catalyzes the production of hypohalous acids, primarily hypochlorous acid in physiologic situations, and other toxic intermediates that greatly enhance PMN microbicidal activity. Homodimer; disulfide-linked. Each monomer consists of a light and a heavy chain. Belongs to the peroxidase family. XPO subfamily. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The MPO mpo (Catalog #AAA8214350) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Myeloperoxidase LC Antibody reacts with Human, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Myeloperoxidase LC can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB (1/500 - 1/1000). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MPO mpo for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Myeloperoxidase LC, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
