Related Product Information for anti-ECM1 antibody
Extracellular matrix protein 1 (ECM1) is a secreted glycoprotein and playing a pivotal role in endochondral bone formation, angiogenesis, and tumour biology. Three splice variants have been identified: ECM1a (540 aa) is most widely expressed, with highest expression in the placenta and heart; ECM1b (415 aa) is differentiation-dependent expressed and found only in tonsil and associated with suprabasal keratinocytes; ECM1c (559 aa) accounts for approximately 15% of skin ECM1. Although ECM1 is not tumor specific, is significantly elevated in many malignant epithelial tumors and is suggested as a possible trigger for angiogenesis, tumor progression and malignancies. It also has been shown to regulate endochondral bone formation, skeletal development and tissue remodeling.

NCBI Description

mouse homolog is an extracellular protein found in a stromal osteogenic cell line [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

ECM1: Involved in endochondral bone formation as negative regulator of bone mineralization. Stimulates the proliferation of endothelial cells and promotes angiogenesis. Inhibits MMP9 proteolytic activity. Defects in ECM1 are the cause of lipoid proteinosis (LiP); also known as lipoid proteinosis of Urbach and Wiethe or hyalinosis cutis et mucosae. LiP is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by generalized thickening of skin, mucosae and certain viscera. Classical features include beaded eyelid papules and laryngeal infiltration leading to hoarseness. Histologically, there is widespread deposition of hyaline material and disruption/reduplication of basement membrane. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Cellular Component: extracellular matrix; extracellular space; proteinaceous extracellular matrix

Molecular Function: enzyme binding; interleukin-2 receptor binding; laminin binding; protease binding; protein C-terminus binding; signal transducer activity

Biological Process: angiogenesis; biomineral formation; inflammatory response; negative regulation of bone mineralization; negative regulation of cytokine and chemokine mediated signaling pathway; negative regulation of peptidase activity; ossification; positive regulation of angiogenesis; positive regulation of endothelial cell proliferation; positive regulation of I-kappaB kinase/NF-kappaB cascade; regulation of T-helper 2 type immune response; regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; signal transduction

Product Notes

The ECM1 ecm1 (Catalog #AAA8113047) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-ECM1 Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ECM1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). ELISA: 1:5000-1:10,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ECM1 ecm1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ECM1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
