Rho GTPases are a group of guanosine triphosphate (GTP)-binding proteins and belong to the Ras superfamily. Rho GTPases are highly expressed in various human tumors and closely related to the development, invasion, and metastasis of tumors. Rho GTPases, similarly as all members of the Ras superfamily, cycle between active/GTP-bound and inactive/guanosine diphosphate (GDP)-bound forms. The Rho GTPase-activating protein 30 (ARHGAP30) is a member of Rho GTPase-activating proteins (RhoGAPs), which are able to enhance the intrinsic hydrolysis of GTP and act as negative regulators of Rho GTPases. ARHGAP30 is a RhoA-and Rac1-specific Rho GAP, involved in the regulation of cytoskeleton organization and cell adhesion. ARHGAP30 is a key regulator for p53 acetylation and a potential prognostic marker for colorectal cancer.
