Related Product Information for anti-PUM2 antibody
PUM2 is a member of the highly conserved Puf family of RNA binding proteins that often function as gene-specific translation regulators. PUM2 pull-down methods combined with reverse transcription and RT-PCR confirmed that PUM2 does indeed bind P2P-R mRNA. These results suggest that P2P-R expression may be translationally regulated by PUM2 and that P2P-R may modulate translation by influencing ribosomal protein gene expression. The human genome contains two Pumilio related genes, PUM1 and PUM2, that encode 127 and 114 kDa proteins with evolutionarily highly conserved Pum RNA-binding domain (86 and 88% homology with the fly Pum protein). PUM1 and PUM2 proteins share 83% overall similarity, with RNA-binding domain being 91% identical. PUM1 consists of 22 exons, spanning about 150 kb on chromosome 1p35.2, whereas PUM2 consists of 20 exons and spans at least 80 kb on chromosome 2p23-24.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to a family of RNA-binding proteins. The encoded protein functions as a translational repressor during embryonic development and cell differentiation. This protein is also thought to be a positive regulator of cell proliferation in adipose-derived stem cells. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2013]

Uniprot Description

Pumilio-2: Sequence-specific RNA-binding protein that regulates translation and mRNA stability by binding the 3'-UTR of mRNA targets. Its interactions and tissue specificity suggest that it may be required to support proliferation and self-renewal of stem cells by regulating the translation of key transcripts. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: RNA-binding; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Translation

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p24.1

Cellular Component: nuclear membrane; stress granule; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; cytoplasm

Molecular Function: protein binding

Biological Process: regulation of translation; stress granule assembly

Product Notes

The PUM2 pum2 (Catalog #AAA8100553) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Pumilio 2/PUM2 Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Pumilio 2/PUM2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P). IHC-P: 1:500-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PUM2 pum2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Pumilio 2/PUM2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
