Aquaporin 4 Antibody: RPE
Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
(Immunohistochemistry analysis using Rabbit Anti-Aquaporin 4 Polyclonal Antibody (SPC-505). Tissue: kidney tissue. Species: Rat. Fixation: 4% paraformaldehyde-lysine-periodate. Primary Antibody: Rabbit Anti-Aquaporin 4 Polyclonal Antibody (SPC-505) at 1:200 for 75 min at RT. Secondary Antibody: FITC Goat Anti-Rabbit (green) for 1 hour at RT. 4 um cryostat sections.)
Western Blot (WB)
(Western blot analysis of Rat kidney inner medullary homogenates showing detection of Aquaporin 4 protein using Rabbit Anti-Aquaporin 4 Polyclonal Antibody (SPC-505). Primary Antibody: Rabbit Anti-Aquaporin 4 Polyclonal Antibody (SPC-505) at 1:2000.)
Scientific Background: Aquaporins selectively conduct water molecules in and out of the cell, while preventing the passage of ions and other solutes. Known as water channels, they are integral membrane pore proteins (1, 2). Aquaporin 4 is constitutively expressed in the basolateral cell membrane of principal collecting duct cells in the kidney and provide a pathway for water to exit these cells (3). It is also expressed in astrocytes and is up regulated by direct insult to the CNS (4). Aquaporin 4 has been proposed as the primary autoimmune target in neuromyelitis optica (5, 6).
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene forms a water-specific channel that regulates body water balance, particularly in the brain. The encoded protein acts as a membrane-bound homotetramer, interacting with other proteins (MLC1, TRPV4, HEPACAM, and ATP1B1) to form a complex. Several variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2012]
Uniprot Description

Product Notes
The Aqp4 aqp4 (Catalog #AAA806737) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Aquaporin 4 Antibody: RPE reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Aquaporin 4 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunofluorescence (IF). 1:1000-4000 (WB), 1:400 (IF). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Aqp4 aqp4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Aquaporin 4, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
