Principle of the Assay||This kit was based on sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. anti-Human ST6GAL1 antibody was pre-coated onto 96-well plates. And the biotin conjugated anti-Human ST6GAL1 antibody was used as detection antibodies. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody were added to the wells subsequently, and wash with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with wash buffer. TMB substrates were used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the Human ST6GAL1 amount of sample captured in plate. Read the O.D. absorbance at 450nm in a microplate reader, and then the concentration of Human ST6GAL1 can be calculated.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of glycosyltransferase family 29. The encoded protein is a type II membrane protein that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to galactose-containing substrates. The protein, which is normally found in the Golgi but can be proteolytically processed to a soluble form, is involved in the generation of the cell-surface carbohydrate determinants and differentiation antigens HB-6, CD75, and CD76. This gene has been incorrectly referred to as CD75. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed for this gene, and a pseudogene of this gene is located on chromosome 15. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2011]

Uniprot Description

SIAT1: a type II membrane protein that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to galactose-containing substrates. Is normally found in the trans cisternae of the Golgi but which can be proteolytically processed to a soluble form, is involved in the generation of the cell-surface carbohydrate determinants and differentiation antigens HB-6, CDw75, and CD76. This protein is a member of glycosyltransferase family 29. Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; EC 2.4.99.1; Glycan Metabolism - N-glycan biosynthesis; Transferase

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum; extracellular region; Golgi apparatus; Golgi medial cisterna; Golgi trans cisterna; integral to Golgi membrane; integral to membrane; membrane

Molecular Function: beta-galactoside alpha-2,6-sialyltransferase activity; sialyltransferase activity; transferase activity; transferase activity, transferring glycosyl groups

Biological Process: N-acetylneuraminate metabolic process; negative regulation of chemotaxis; oligosaccharide metabolic process; positive regulation of mononuclear cell proliferation; protein amino acid glycosylation; protein amino acid N-linked glycosylation via asparagine

Product Notes

The Human ST6GAL1 st6gal1 (Catalog #AAA763318) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA763318 ELISA Kit recognizes Human ST6GAL1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Beta-galactoside alpha-2,6-sialyltransferase 1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
