Intended Uses: This ABCA7 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Mouse ABCA7. This ELISA kit for research use only!

Principle of the Assay: ABCA7 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-ABCA7 antibody and an ABCA7-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with ABCA7-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the ABCA7 concentration since ABCA7 from samples and ABCA7-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-ABCA7 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by ABCA7 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind ABCA7-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The ABCA7 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra- and intra-cellular membranes. ABC genes are divided into seven distinct subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White). This protein is a member of the ABC1 subfamily. Members of the ABC1 subfamily comprise the only major ABC subfamily found exclusively in multicellular eukaryotes. This full transporter has been detected predominantly in myelo-lymphatic tissues with the highest expression in peripheral leukocytes, thymus, spleen, and bone marrow. The function of this protein is not yet known; however, the expression pattern suggests a role in lipid homeostasis in cells of the immune system. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

ABCA7: Plays a role in phagocytosis by macrophages of apoptotic cells. Binds APOA1 and may function in apolipoprotein-mediated phospholipid efflux from cells. May also mediate cholesterol efflux. May regulate cellular ceramide homeostasis during keratinocytes differentiation. Belongs to the ABC transporter superfamily. ABCA family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Mouse ABCA7 abca7 (Catalog #AAA7211637) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA7211637 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse ABCA7. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ATP-binding cassette sub-family A member 7 (ABCA7), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
