<0.1ng/ug
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degree C. Reconstitute to 100ug/ml with sterile ddH2O. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20 degree C. For long term storage add 0.1% HSA or BSA, aliquot, and store at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Related Product Information for TGFA active protein
Transforming Growth Factor-alpha (TGF-alpha) is a polypeptide growth factor which stimulates the proliferation of a wide range or epidermal and epithelial cells. TGF-alpha is produced by monocytes, keratinocytes, and many tissues. TGF-alpha has been shown to play a role in the autocrine growth of certain transformed cells. Human TGF-alpha is a 5.5kD protein containing 50aa residues.

NCBI Description

Transforming growth factors (TGFs) are biologically active polypeptides that reversibly confer the transformed phenotype on cultured cells. TGF-alpha shows about 40% sequence homology with epidermal growth factor (EGF; MIM 131530) and competes with EGF for binding to the EGF receptor (MIM 131550), stimulating its phosphorylation and producing a mitogenic response.[supplied by OMIM]

Uniprot Description

Function: TGF alpha is a mitogenic polypeptide that is able to bind to the EGF receptor and to act synergistically with TGF beta to promote anchorage-independent cell proliferation in soft agar.

Subunit structure: Interacts with the PDZ domains of MAGI3, SDCBP and SNTA1. The interaction with SDCBP, is required for the targeting to the cell surface. In the endoplasmic reticulum, in its immature form (i.e. with a prosegment and lacking full N-glycosylation), interacts with CNIH. In the Golgi apparatus, may form a complex with CNIH and GORASP2. Interacts (via cytoplasmic C-terminal domain) with NKD2. Ref.16 Ref.17 Ref.18

Subcellular location: Transforming growth factor alpha: Secreted › extracellular space. Protransforming growth factor alpha: Cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.

Tissue specificity: Isoform 1, isoform 3 and isoform 4 are expressed in keratinocytes and tumor-derived cell lines. Ref.6

Sequence similarities: Contains 1 EGF-like domain.

Product Notes

The TGFA tgfa (Catalog #AAA650395) is an Active Protein and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Transforming Growth Factor alpha, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
