Related Product Information for anti-TGFA antibody
TGF-alpha is produced by a number of human carcinomas and cell lines transformed by viral and cellular Oncogene. The production of TGF-alpha in pituitary cells in inhibited by TGF-beta. TGF-alpha is produced by keratinocytes, macrophages, hepatocytes, platelets. Its synthesis is stimulated by infection with viruses. In mammary tissue its synthesis is induced by estrogens. The protein has a length of 50 amino acids. It is not related to TGF-beta. The factor is obtained by proteolytic processing of a transmembrane precursor protein of 160 amino acids. Membrane-associated elastase-like serine proteases have been implicated in the processing of the pro-TGF-alpha form. Rat and murine TGF-alpha are almost identical with the human factor. TGF-alpha is related closely to EGF and TGF-alpha is therefore sometimes called EGF-like transforming growth factor. The biological activities of these two growth factors are very similar and both bind to the same receptor. The transmembrane precursor of TGF-alpha can bind to EGF receptors on near-by cells. This enables it to establish specific cell-to-cell contacts and to elicit developmentally important responses in neighboring cells.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a growth factor that is a ligand for the epidermal growth factor receptor, which activates a signaling pathway for cell proliferation, differentiation and development. This protein may act as either a transmembrane-bound ligand or a soluble ligand. This gene has been associated with many types of cancers, and it may also be involved in some cases of cleft lip/palate. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]

Uniprot Description

TGFalpha: TGF alpha is a mitogenic polypeptide that is able to bind to the EGF receptor/EGFR and to act synergistically with TGF beta to promote anchorage-independent cell proliferation in soft agar. Interacts with the PDZ domains of MAGI3, SDCBP and SNTA1. The interaction with SDCBP, is required for the targeting to the cell surface. In the endoplasmic reticulum, in its immature form (i.e. with a prosegment and lacking full N-glycosylation), interacts with CNIH. In the Golgi apparatus, may form a complex with CNIH and GORASP2. Interacts (via cytoplasmic C-terminal domain) with NKD2. Isoform 1, isoform 3 and isoform 4 are expressed in keratinocytes and tumor-derived cell lines. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The TGFA tgfa (Catalog #AAA551075) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit anti TGF-alpha Polyclonal reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TGF-alpha can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), IHC (Immunohistochemistry), ELISA (EIA). ELISA: Use at a concentration range of 1-2ug/ml. Western blot:A suitable range of concentrations of this antibody for WB detection is 2-10 ug/ml. IHC: A suitable range of concentrations of this antibody for IHC is 2-10 ug/ml. Immunohistochemical analysis of TGF alpha expression in FFPE rat colon tissue. It was used as primary antibody dilution 1:500, DAB chromogen substrate. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TGFA tgfa for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TGF-alpha, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
