Fibroblast Growth Factor 17 Active Protein | FGF17 active protein

Fibroblast Growth Factor 17, Recombinant, Human (FGF17)

Gene Names
FGF17; FGF-13
Purity
Molecular Biology Grade
98% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC.
Synonyms
Fibroblast Growth Factor 17; Recombinant; Human (FGF17); FGF17 active protein
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Host
E Coli
Purity/Purification
Molecular Biology Grade
98% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC.
Form/Format
The sterile ltered solution was lyophilized from 10 mM Tris, pH8.0, 30 mM sodium chloride.
Biological Activity
The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of thymidine uptake by BaF3 cells expressing FGF-receptors is 0.5ng/ml, corresponding to a speci c activity of 2 x 10e6 units/mg.
Country of Origin
USA
Endotoxin Level
0.1ng/ug (1EU/ug).
Reconstitution
We recommend a quick spin followed by reconstitution in 5mM Tris, pH 8.0 to a concentration of 0.1-1.0mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at 4 degree C for 1 week or -20 degree C for future use.
Preparation and Storage
-20 degree C
Stability: The lyophilized protein is stable for few weeks at room temperature, but best stored at -20 degree C. Reconstituted FGF-17 should be stored in working aliquots at -20 degree C. Freeze/thaw cycles will result in signi cant loss of activity.
Related Product Information for FGF17 active protein
The FGFs play key roles in controlling tissue growth, morphogenesis and repair in animals. FGF-17 is a newly discovered heparin binding growth factor that stimulates the proliferation and activation of cells that express FGF receptors. Recombinant Human FGF-17 is a 22.7kDa protein containing 195 amino residues.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities, and are involved in a variety of biological processes including embryonic development cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. This gene was shown to be prominently expressed in the cerebellum and cortex. The mouse homolog of this gene was localized to specific sites in the midline structures of the forebrain, the midbrain-hindbrain junction, developing skeleton and developing arteries, which suggests a role in central nervous system, bone and vascular development. This gene was referred to as FGF-13 in reference 2, however, its amino acid sequence and chromosomal localization are identical to FGF17. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

Function: May be a signaling molecule in the induction and patterning of the embryonic brain.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Tissue specificity: Preferentially expressed in the embryonic brain.

Developmental stage: Detected in embryos at E14.5, but not at E10.5 and E19.5. Preferentially expressed in the neuroepithelia of the isthmus and septum of the embryonic brain at E14.5.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the heparin-binding growth factors family.

Product Notes

The FGF17 fgf17 (Catalog #AAA650236) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Fibroblast Growth Factor 17, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
