NCBI Description

This gene encodes a key acute phase plasma protein. Because of its increase due to acute inflammation, this protein is classified as an acute-phase reactant. The specific function of this protein has not yet been determined; however, it may be involved in aspects of immunosuppression. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

ORM1: Functions as transport protein in the blood stream. Binds various ligands in the interior of its beta-barrel domain. Also binds synthetic drugs and influences their distribution and availability in the body. Appears to function in modulating the activity of the immune system during the acute-phase reaction. Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Lipocalin family.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 9q32

Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region

Molecular Function: protein binding

Biological Process: regulation of immune system process; transport; acute-phase response; inflammatory response

Product Notes

The AGP1 orm1 (Catalog #AAA6461026) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The a1Acid Glycoprotein, CT (Alpha-1-acid Glycoprotein 1, AGP 1, Orosomucoid-1, OMD 1, AGP1, ORM1) (AP) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's a1Acid Glycoprotein can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:50-1:100 ELISA: 1:1000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AGP1 orm1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "a1Acid Glycoprotein, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
