Gene Names
CD38; T10
Purity
Highly Purified
95%, as determined by SDS-PAGE and visualized by silver stain.
Synonyms
CD38; Recombinant; Human (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Cells Antigen; ADP Ribosyl Cyclase; CADPr Hydrolase 1; Cyclic ADP Ribose Hydrolase; Ecto Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide Glycohydrolase; I19 (Mouse); Lymphocyte Differentiation Antigen); CD38 active protein

For Research Use Only!
Purity/Purification
Highly Purified
95%, as determined by SDS-PAGE and visualized by silver stain.
Form/Format
Supplied as a liquid in 25mM MES, 0.15M NaCl, pH 6.5.
Activity
Measured by its ability to convert the substrate nicotinamide guanine dinucleotide (NGD +) to cyclic GDP-ribose. The cyclic GDP-ribose is measured by fluorescence at excitation and emission wavelengths of 300 nm and 410 nm, respectively2. The specific activity, measured with 100 M substrate and 100 ng enzyme in 100 L of 50 mM MES, pH 6.5, at room temperature is > 2,500 pmoles/min/ g.
Endotoxin Level
< 1.0 EU per 1 g of the protein as determined by the LAL method.
Reconstitution
Centrifuge the vial before opening to recover entire contents of the vial. Due to possible sublimation during storage, the buffer volume may decrease over time, however, the product is sold by mass and the amount of protein will remain constant. To ensure quantitative recovery, we suggest the stock solution be made in the original vial.

Storage and Stability:
Samples are stable for up to six months at -70 degree C in a manual defrost freezer after the date of receipt. After receiving, this protein can be aliquoted and stored at above temperature for up to six months without a significant loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Preparation and Storage
-70 degree C
Related Product Information for CD38 active protein
CD38, also known as ADP-ribosyl cyclase, is a Type II integral membrane protein. The enzyme is able to transform NAD(P)+ into three different products with calcium mobilizing ability; cyclic ADP-ribose, NAADP+, and ADP-ribose 3. CD38 is expressed in B and T lymphocytes, osteoclasts, and in cardiac, pancreatic, liver and kidney cells 1, 4. Through its production of cyclic ADP-ribose, CD38 modulates calcium-mediated signal transduction in many types of cells, including neutrophils and pancreatic cells 5, 6.

NCBI Description

CD38 is a novel multifunctional ectoenzyme widely expressed in cells and tissues especially in leukocytes. CD38 also functions in cell adhesion, signal transduction and calcium signaling. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CD38: Synthesizes cyclic ADP-ribose, a second messenger for glucose-induced insulin secretion. Also has cADPr hydrolase activity. Also moonlights as a receptor in cells of the immune system. Belongs to the ADP-ribosyl cyclase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The CD38 cd38 (Catalog #AAA636834) is an Active Protein and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD38, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
