Related Product Information for anti-ALDH1A1 antibody
This protein belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenases family of proteins. Aldehyde dehydrogenase is the second enzyme of the major oxidative pathway of alcohol metabolism. Two major liver isoforms of this enzyme, cytosolic and mitochondrial, can be distinguished by their electrophoretic mobilities, kinetic properties, and subcellular localizations. Most Caucasians have two major isozymes, while approximately 50% of Orientals have only the cytosolic isozyme, missing the mitochondrial isozyme. A remarkably higher frequency of acute alcohol intoxication among Orientals than among Caucasians could be related to the absence of the mitochondrial isozyme. This gene encodes a cytosolic isoform, which has a high affinity for aldehydes.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family. Aldehyde dehydrogenase is the next enzyme after alcohol dehydrogenase in the major pathway of alcohol metabolism. There are two major aldehyde dehydrogenase isozymes in the liver, cytosolic and mitochondrial, which are encoded by distinct genes, and can be distinguished by their electrophoretic mobility, kinetic properties, and subcellular localization. This gene encodes the cytosolic isozyme. Studies in mice show that through its role in retinol metabolism, this gene may also be involved in the regulation of the metabolic responses to high-fat diet. [provided by RefSeq]

Product Notes

The ALDH1A1 (Catalog #AAA619382) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 1A1 (Aldh1a1, Acetaldehyde Dehydrogenase 1, AHD2, ALDC, Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 1 Soluble, Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 1A1, Aldehyde Dehydrogenase Cytosolic, Aldehyde Dehydrogenase Liver (cytosolic), MGC2318, PUMB1, RALDH 1, RalDH1, Retin reacts with Canine, Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 1A1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 0.03-0.1ug/ml Titer: 1:16,000 (by peptide ELISA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ALDH1A1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 1A1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
